Waterproofing is invisible, it adds a day to the programme, and it is the first thing a cheap quote leaves out.
A bathroom is a wet room built inside a dry building, and the only thing separating the two is the tanking membrane behind the tiles. Done properly, it lasts decades. Skipped or rushed, water passes through grout, reaches the substrate, and works its way into the structure and the ceiling of the room below, and by the time you can see the evidence the entire bathroom has to come out again. It is genuinely the single highest risk shortcut in residential renovation, and it is invisible to the client on completion day.
We strip back to substrate, correct the falls so water actually reaches the drain, apply a full tanking membrane, and water test before a single tile is laid. Only then does tiling, plumbing second fix and finishing begin. Concealed pipework and waterproofing are photographed and given to you as a record. Ventilation is checked and upgraded where needed, because most persistent bathroom mould in Dubai is an extraction problem rather than a cleaning one.
