Ceilings age differently to walls. They yellow gradually from cooking vapour and airborne oil, they crack along plasterboard joints as the structure settles, and they stain around AC units and bathroom vents where condensation has been finding its way through. Because the change is slow and overhead, it goes unnoticed for years, right up until a fresh coat goes on the walls and the ceiling suddenly reads as grey. Painting walls and skipping the ceiling is the most common regret in an interior repaint.
Ceilings also fail differently, so we treat the cause first. Water stains are sealed with a stain blocking primer, because emulsion alone will let a mark bleed straight back through within weeks. Joint cracks are raked out, taped and filled rather than skimmed over. Around AC diffusers and bathroom extracts we check whether the staining is historic or ongoing, and tell you if there is a condensation issue that painting will not fix.
We look at the actual surfaces, tell you what preparation they need, and quote against a written specification.
