About this service
What is tile polishing and what does it include?
A film you cannot see, laid down by the product you have been cleaning with.
Polished porcelain and ceramic lose their finish differently to natural stone. Rather than abrading, they accumulate. Detergent residue, hard water mineral deposit and traffic film build up into a microscopically thin haze that flattens reflection and makes the floor look permanently slightly dirty no matter how recently it was mopped. The frustrating part is that most household floor cleaners actively make it worse, because they leave a small amount of residue behind by design.
We strip that build up mechanically, using rotary machines with pads and compounds matched to the tile type, then polish the surface back to an even sheen and protect it. Where tiles have genuine surface damage or scratching, we assess whether it can be honed out or whether a protective finish is the more sensible answer, and tell you which. Slip resistance can be improved at the same time, which is worth considering around wet areas and pool surrounds.
