What is grout cleaning & regrouting and what does it include?
Grout is porous. It has been absorbing everything since the day it was laid.
There is a specific moment in every bathroom and kitchen when the tiles still look good and the room somehow does not, and the reason is almost always grout. It is cement based, porous, and it takes in water, soap residue, cooking oil and dirt continuously, darkening so gradually that you never register the change. Then you see a photo from three years ago and the difference is obvious. Household cleaners work on the surface, and the discolouration is inside the material.
We deep clean grout with high pressure steam and alkaline treatment, which pulls contamination out of the pores rather than lifting it off the top. Where grout has failed, cracked, crumbled, gone mouldy or stained beyond recovery, cleaning is the wrong answer and we cut it out and regrout instead. Silicone around baths, showers and worktops is removed and replaced with mould resistant sealant rather than cleaned, because black mould in silicone is inside it, not on it. Finished grout is sealed so the cycle does not simply start again.
