DB and Distribution Board Repair in Dubai
Every circuit in the property passes through one metal box. It deserves more attention than it gets.
Distribution board repair, replacement and upgrade near you in Dubai. Failed RCDs and MCBs, burnt terminations, overloaded boards and unsafe past modifications put right by licensed electricians.
About this service
What distribution board repair involves
Most of the genuinely dangerous work we find in Dubai homes is inside a DB, added by somebody who was not an electrician.
The distribution board is the single point where every circuit in the property is protected, and it is also the most commonly interfered with piece of equipment in a Dubai home. Extra circuits get added during a fit out, a breaker gets swapped for a larger one because the old one kept tripping, and a spare way gets used for the pool pump.
None of that is visible from the outside. What is visible is the symptom: a warm cover, a breaker that will not stay in, a board that trips as a whole rather than by circuit, or a smell.
The most common finding is a loose termination. Copper expands and contracts under load, terminals work loose over years, and a loose terminal heats. That heat discolours the insulation, then chars it, and the failure mode at the end of that sequence is a fire inside a sealed enclosure.
Thermal imaging finds those before they get there, which is why we image the board under load on every visit rather than only when asked.
Upgrades matter too. Older Dubai boards frequently have a single RCD protecting everything, so a fault on a bathroom shaver socket takes out the freezer and the AC. Splitting the board into separate RCBOs per circuit is inexpensive during a repair visit and removes that entirely.

Where a bad decision stays hidden longest
Plumbing, electrical and mechanical work is where an owner is least equipped to judge what they are being told, and where the wrong call stays buried in a wall for years. We show you the fault, explain the options, and quote before we touch it.
- You see the fault before you approve the fix
- Written quote, no parts added afterwards
- One team, so no trade blames another

Diagnosed before anything is replaced
Replacing a part that was not the fault is the most expensive outcome in this trade, and the most common one.
- Cause established before parts are ordered
- Photographs of the fault, shared with you
- Second opinion welcomed, not resisted

One contract instead of six
Most villas are running separate contractors for AC, plumbing, electrical and general maintenance, all blaming each other. One team removes that entirely.
- Single point of contact for the property
- One schedule, one invoice, one accountability
- Records kept so history is not lost
What is included
- Thermal imaging of the board under load, every visit
- Torque checking and re-termination of every connection
- Failed MCB, RCD and RCBO replacement
- Main switch and isolator replacement
- Board upgrade from a single RCD to per circuit RCBOs
- Correction of oversized breakers fitted to undersized cable
- Removal of unsafe additions made during past fit outs
- Additional ways added, or a sub board where the main is full
- Main earthing and equipotential bonding verified and corrected
- Surge protection device installation
- Accurate circuit schedule produced from testing, not from guesswork
- Full board replacement where repair is not the right answer
Before anything is quoted
We look at the property before we put a number on it
A price list cannot see your marble, your ducts, or the wall the afternoon sun hits. So we come and look. A senior member of the team surveys the property, and you receive a written quotation the same day, itemised, with what is included and what is not.
No obligation. If we are not the right company for the job we will say so, and tell you who is.
- 01The survey
We look at the property, not a price list. Usually the same day you ask.
- 02The written quote
Fixed, itemised, and sent the same day. What is included, and what is not.
- 03The work
A named supervisor and a crew you will see again. Our own equipment and materials.
- 04The walkthrough
We walk the property with you before the team leaves. Anything not right is dealt with then.
Frequently asked questions
Who repairs distribution boards near me in Dubai?
MELLS covers ninety communities across Dubai. All board work is carried out by licensed electricians, never by general maintenance staff.
How much does a distribution board replacement cost in Dubai?
It depends on the number of ways, whether the board is surface or flush, and whether the main earthing needs correcting. We survey and quote in writing, and the figure on the quote is the figure you pay.
Can I just replace the breaker that keeps tripping?
Only if the breaker is proven faulty. A breaker that trips is usually reporting a real fault on the circuit, and fitting a larger one removes the protection the cable relies on.
What is an RCBO and do I need one?
It combines earth leakage and overcurrent protection in a single device per circuit. It means a fault on one circuit no longer takes out the whole property, which matters most for freezers and air conditioning.
Is a warm distribution board dangerous?
A noticeably warm cover or one hot breaker is a loose termination, and it should be looked at within days rather than at the next convenient time.
How long does a board upgrade take?
Most single board replacements are a day, with the power off in stages. We agree the outage windows with you first.
How do I get a quote from MELLS?
Message us on WhatsApp on +971 58 656 3001 or call the same number. A senior member of the team surveys the property and you receive a written itemised quotation the same day.
Which areas of the UAE does MELLS cover?
Ninety communities across Dubai for residential work, and Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah for commercial premises.
Do you bring your own equipment and materials?
Yes. Our teams arrive fully equipped with professional grade machinery, products and materials. Nothing of yours is used.

The difference
Why a cheap db and distribution board repair job is expensive
The gap is not the price. It is what is actually reached, and whether anyone can show you it was.
The low cost visit
- The failed breaker swapped and the cover put straight back on
- A larger breaker fitted because the correct one kept tripping
- Mixed manufacturers in one board, which is not a listed assembly
- No thermal imaging, so loose terminations stay loose
- Terminations remade by feel rather than to a torque figure
- Labels rewritten from assumption rather than from testing
The MELLS method
- The board imaged under load before anything is touched
- Every termination torque checked to the manufacturer figure
- Breaker ratings verified against the cable they protect
- Like for like devices, so the assembly stays listed
- The schedule rebuilt from actual circuit testing
- The option to split to per circuit RCBOs quoted, not assumed
Worth a look
Signs you need db and distribution board repair
No surprises, at any point
How the process works
Inspection under load
Cover off, thermal camera on, board under normal load. Loose and overloaded terminations show themselves before any test gear comes out.
Verify ratings against cable
Every breaker checked against the cable size it protects. Oversized breakers on undersized cable are the most common dangerous finding.
Test each circuit
Insulation resistance, continuity and loop impedance per circuit, plus RCD trip current and timing.
Report before repair
You see photographs of what was found, ranked by whether it is dangerous, non compliant or simply untidy.
Repair or upgrade
Re-termination, device replacement, additional ways, or a full board change. Quoted before it starts, with the options explained.
Re-test and label
Everything re-tested, an accurate schedule produced from the testing, and the readings left with you in writing.
