Filling, sanding and priming a wall before painting, by MELLS in Dubai

Preparation is most of the work, and all of the result

Cracks filled, the wall sanded flat, dust removed, then primed. Skip any one of those and the paint tells on you within a year, usually along the wall the afternoon sun lands on.

  • Filler, sand, dust removal, primer, then two coats
  • Furniture moved and sheeted by us, not by you
  • Edges cut by hand, no overspray on stone or glass

Before anything is quoted

We look at the property before we put a number on it

A price list cannot see your marble, your ducts, or the wall the afternoon sun hits. So we come and look. A senior member of the team surveys the property, and you receive a written quotation the same day, itemised, with what is included and what is not.

No obligation. If we are not the right company for the job we will say so, and tell you who is.

  1. 01
    The survey

We look at the property, not a price list. Usually the same day you ask.

  2. 02
    The written quote

Fixed, itemised, and sent the same day. What is included, and what is not.

  3. 03
    The work

A named supervisor and a crew you will see again. Our own equipment and materials.

  4. 04
    The walkthrough

We walk the property with you before the team leaves. Anything not right is dealt with then.

About this service

What is decorative & texture finishes and what does it include?

The finish is decided by the substrate underneath it, and by whether the applicator has done it fifty times or twice.

Decorative finishes are where the gap between a good result and a poor one is widest, and where it is hardest to judge in advance. Venetian plaster is built in thin layers and burnished, and it either has depth or it looks like textured paint. Limewash needs to move and vary or it reads as a badly rolled wall. Microcement is unforgiving about substrate movement and joint preparation, and cracks show immediately. None of these are things a general painter picks up in an afternoon, and the finish cannot really be corrected afterwards. It comes off and gets redone.

We put specialist applicators on this work, not the general painting crew, and we do a sample panel on your actual wall before anything is committed to. That matters more than a brochure or a showroom board, because these finishes read completely differently under your lighting, at your wall size, next to your stone and joinery. Substrate preparation is treated as most of the job: cracks addressed properly, movement joints respected, the correct primer for the system rather than whatever is in the store, and moisture checked before a lime or cement based finish goes anywhere near a wall.

Signs you need this service

A feature wall that plain paint is not going to carry
A double height space that needs depth rather than colour
Existing textured finish that has cracked or discoloured
Microcement wanted in a bathroom or wet area
A previous decorative finish that was badly applied
Joinery and stone already chosen and the walls must sit with them
New villa handover with flat builder finish throughout
You have seen a finish somewhere and cannot get it matched

What is included

  • Consultation with material and finish options
  • Sample panel applied on your actual wall
  • Full substrate preparation, crack repair and skim
  • Correct primer for the specific finish system
  • Venetian plaster, applied in layers and burnished
  • Limewash, applied for movement and variation
  • Microcement to walls, floors and wet areas
  • Metallic, pearl and specialist decorative effects
  • Protective sealing where the finish and location require it
  • Full masking and protection of adjoining surfaces
Good to know. Always see the sample on your own wall under your own lighting. These finishes look different in a showroom and that is not a small difference.

Benefits of doing it properly

  • Specialist applicators rather than general painting crew
  • Sample panel on your wall before you commit to anything
  • Substrate prepared for the specific system being applied
  • Moisture checked before lime or cement based finishes
  • Sealed correctly where the room requires it
  • Adjoining stone and joinery properly protected
  • One contract if plastering or joinery work is needed first
  • Honest advice where a finish is wrong for the location

How the process works

01

Consultation

We look at the space, the lighting, and what the finish has to sit alongside.

02

Sample panel

Applied on your actual wall. Nothing is ordered or scheduled until you have seen it.

03

Written quote

Fixed and itemised, with the system named rather than described vaguely.

04

Substrate preparation

Cracks, joints, moisture and primer, which is where most of the outcome is decided.

05

Application

Specialist applicators, working in the correct number of layers for the system.

06

Seal and handover

Sealed where required, protection removed, and aftercare explained in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does decorative and texture finishes cost in Dubai?

There is no fixed rate card. Price follows the size and condition of the property, so a senior member of the team surveys it first and you get a written, itemised quotation the same day. The figure on that quotation is the figure you pay.

Who does decorative and texture finishes near me in Dubai?

MELLS covers ninety communities across Dubai and works in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah for commercial premises. Message +971 58 656 3001 on WhatsApp with your community and we will confirm availability.

What is the best decorative and texture finishes company in Dubai?

Judge any company on three things: whether the team is directly employed or subcontracted, whether the quote is fixed in writing before work starts, and whether a supervisor walks the property with you at the end. MELLS does all three as standard.

How quickly can you start decorative and texture finishes?

Survey usually the same day you ask, quotation the same day, and work scheduled within forty eight hours in most cases. Urgent call outs are handled the same day where the team is free.

Is decorative and texture finishes safe for children and pets?

Yes. Products are selected for occupied family homes as the default, re entry times are told to you before we leave, and anything stronger is only ever used with your agreement.

How do I get a quote from MELLS?

Message us on WhatsApp on +971 58 656 3001 or call the same number. A senior member of the team surveys the property and you receive a written itemised quotation the same day.

Which areas of the UAE does MELLS cover?

Ninety communities across Dubai for residential work, and Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah for commercial premises.

Is venetian plaster the same as textured paint?

No. It is a lime based material built up in thin layers and burnished, which is what gives it depth. Textured paint imitates the look and does not age the same way.

Can microcement go in a bathroom?

Yes, and it is one of the better uses for it, but only with the correct substrate preparation and sealing. Movement and joint detailing is where microcement bathrooms fail.

Will I see a sample first?

Always, and on your own wall rather than a board. Lighting and wall size change these finishes more than people expect.

Can you match a finish I have seen elsewhere?

Usually. Bring a photograph, and ideally one taken in daylight. We will produce sample panels until it is right rather than starting the wall and hoping.

How long does it take?

Longer than painting, because the layers need to dry between coats and the substrate work comes first. We give you the programme in writing with the quote.

Ready to book decorative & texture finishes?

The difference

Why a cheap decorative and Texture Finishes job is expensive

The gap is not the price. It is what is actually reached, and whether anyone can show you it was.

The low cost visit

  • Two coats straight over the existing surface
  • Cracks skimmed rather than cut out and filled
  • No primer, so the finish coat does the work
  • Furniture moved by you, floors barely covered
  • Tape lines instead of edges cut by hand
  • Visible failure along the sun wall inside a year

The MELLS method

  • Cracks cut out, filled, sanded flat and dusted off
  • Primed properly before any finish coat goes on
  • Products specified per elevation and per room use
  • Furniture moved and sheeted by us, not by you
  • Edges cut by hand, no overspray on stone or glass
  • Touch up paint left on site in a labelled tin
